Biking

On-line Biking Trails Information

Weber's Bookstore, 100 S. Main Street, Breckenridge, has several books on local biking trails including "Breckenridge Mountain Trails" and "Best of Colorado Biking Trails".

There are 30-40 bike dealers, rental shops and repair shops in Summit County and Breckenridge.  During the summer it seems there is one on most every corner!

Golf

Golfing in the rarefied air at high altitude makes you think you're a pro since shots go 1-2 clubs further than at sea level.  There are four golf courses in Summit County to challenge you.

Breckenridge Golf Club is a 27 hole, Jack Nicklaus designed municipal golf course owned by the town of Breckenridge.  It is about 3 miles north of town.

Keystone Ranch Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks is owned by Copper Mountain, designed by Tom Lehman and Hurdzan/Fry, and is located just north of Silverthorne.

Copper Creek Golf Club is a Pete and Perry Dye designed course at the base of Copper Mountain ski area.

There are also golf courses at Vail, Beaver Creek, Eagle, Buena Vista and Leadville, all within about an hour drive from Summit County.

Hiking, Backpacking, Camping

The New Summit Hiker is the local "bible" on hiking in Summit County.  Written by local Mary Ellen Gilliland, it provides maps and information about hiking to old mines, ghost towns, lakes and waterfalls.  It is available at Weber's Books who also has topo maps and other hiking books.

The local newspaper, The Summit Daily News, provides a comprehensive listing of hiking, backpacking and camping possibilities.

SummitNet provides lots of information about hiking and other summer activities.

Trails.Com has information about hiking North of Vail, and in Northern Summit County.

Fishing

Trout fishing in Rocky Mountain streams and rivers is at its best in Summit County.  The Blue River, below Dillon Reservoir, is Gold Medal trout water and is well described by Colorado Fishing Net. There are hundreds of other streams and rivers full of brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout.

Breckenridge is home to Jackson Streit, local fishing expert and author.  He owns the Mountain Angler fishing store on Main Street in Breckenridge, and provides guide services and plenty of knowledgeable advice on local fishing activity.

SummitNet also provides local fishing information.
